| The best things to do in Toronto |
|
There is a lot to see in Toronto but if you only have limited time then you will want to see the best of what is on offer. The following are just some suggestions about things worth seeing and doing in Toronto.
1.Visit the CN tower. The skyline of Toronto is stunning so what better way of appreciating it then going to the top of the world's highest building. If your stomach isn't too queasy due to the height and glass floor then you might try a bit of food in the revolving restaurant. What better way to see this city then from the top with a knife and fork in your hand. If you like wine you will be spoiled for choice with the restaurant's large selection; just remember that the room is meant to be spinning.
2.Eaton's Centre is home of some of the largest malls in Canada and if you want some chic and sophisticated then this is certainly the place to go. This is a great area to go window shopping and there will be plenty to suit all tastes. If you are no good at avoiding temptation then it will probably be a good idea to leave your wallet at home.
3.Kensington Market is another great place for shopping and this is where you will see the best of Toronto's multicultural offering. Canada is seen as one of the most tolerant countries in the world and in places like Kensington Market you will see how this expresses itself. The market was originally predominately Jewish, but now it is a mix of all the world's cultures. Each December the market has a festival, and this is a particularly good time to visit.
4.The Beaches is a great place to spend a bit of time. Toronto probably doesn't seem like the most obvious place to go to the beach, but Lake Ontario provides plenty of opportunity for water fun.
5.Riverdale Farm is right in downtown Toronto and offers something a bit different for the visitor. How often have you visited a seven and a half acre farm in a city? The best thing of all is this is a free day out.
6.Toronto Island really is a place you should see with its 600 acres of parkland. There is a large amusement park on the island, but it is also a great place to just go and have a picnic or go swimming.
7.Casa Loma is the place to go if you want to see a bit of old Toronto. This is a castle right in the heart of the city and it houses a museum that you can visit. Around the castle are some wonderful gardens.
8.St Lawrence Market is not only a nice place to do some shopping, but it is also pleasant just to walk around. As well as produce stalls you can also buy some antiques and if you want you can just spend a bit of time relaxing in a local cafe.
